6 Pieces in the Form of Lines

6 found objects and materials, frames, charcoal and printed text

33. Koblenz Guitar Festival, Bendorf, Germany (1-9 June 2025)

The idea for this project originates from my installation “Blacks and Whites,” but this time I began by exploring how different materials and textures create

distinct sounds, drawing lines with charcoal on six found materials. This installation represents the residual trace of sonic activity, oscillating between visuals, text, sound, touch, memory, and imagination.

I collected three of the six materials from areas around the venue and purchased the other three, resulting in three natural objects and three manufactured materials. I chose the based on their very different textures. I drew straight lines on each material and wrote about how it felt and sounded, in Farsi. I translated and printed the texts, then hung them below each material in a row. The installation consisted of six pieces created by lines, but visitors were given all the clues except the actual physical sounds. The texts functioned

both as the artwork and as a score.
